A Report on the Structure of the School at Dindor in the Oti Region.
This report seeks to highlight the current condition of the school structure at Dindor, a community in the Oti Region of Ghana. It aims to draw the attention of stakeholders, including the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the government, to the challenges faced and the urgent need for intervention.
The school at Dindor currently operates under extremely challenging conditions. The infrastructure is inadequate, with most classrooms lacking proper roofing, doors, windows, and ventilation. In some cases, classes are held under trees or in temporary structures that offer little protection against harsh weather conditions.
Furniture is also a major challenge, as many pupils either sit on the floor or share a limited number of broken desks. This affects their concentration, comfort, and overall academic performance.
Teachers face difficulty managing classes due to overcrowding and lack of basic teaching materials. The poor state of the building affects attendance, especially during the rainy season when it becomes nearly impossible to hold classes.
Pupils are also demotivated, as the school environment does not encourage effective learning. This leads to high absenteeism and poor academic results.
The local community has made several attempts to support the school through communal labor and small fundraising initiatives, but their efforts are not enough to meet the growing demands of the school.
Recommendations and Call for Support:
We respectfully appeal to the Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Education, and the government of Ghana to:
Construct durable classroom blocks for the school in Dindor.
Provide adequate furniture and learning materials to improve the learning environment.
The future of Dindor’s children depends on quality education, and that begins with a safe and conducive learning environment. We urge the appropriate authorities to come to the aid of the school and support the community’s efforts in giving every child in Dindor the education they deserve.
